What is Maze Ransomware?
First of all, what is Ransomware?
Ransomware is a type of cyber attack in which a hacker infects the system by encrypting the system files making the system unusable for the victim then the attackers demands for the ransom to make their system usable again.
Maze Ransomware is a Ransomware which is also known as ChaCha Ransomware which was founded on 29th May 2019. In Maze Ransomware, it encrypts all files in the infected system and then attackers demands for ransom to recover the files but they also threaten the victims by informing them that they will make the data public if they don’t give ransom. So, the company which would hit by this ransomware have to fear of their data being public or at worst case scenario even company’s customer’s data.

Cognizant was the victim of Maze Ransomware

On April 20, Cognizant tweeted that they have confirmed that their system was infected by Maze Ransomware.
Cognizant is a well known company for providing IT services. As they are a well known company, they have many clients. And all of client’s data is precious to both client and the company itself. So this is really a bad news for the company.
They have also informed that the clients have been notified of the situation and they are taking appropriate steps to solve this situation. They are also working with law enforcement authorities.
FBI(Federal Bureau of Investigation) has warned other companies about Maze Ransomware attack and to protect their system to prevent this attack.

Cyber attacks are increasing day by day and Companies are also trying hard to make their system strong. During the coronavirus pandemic the cyber attacks are now increasing rapidly and there are many new victims as now the users are having time in hand and are using more internet than they would usually use and if that person doesn’t know which website they are using or to whom they are giving credential then that person is screwed.
